Backstory

jeremy patrick fitzgerald, bastard son of patrick fitzgerald and delilah hart.the sorrowhis childhood was not that of a happy one, coming from a struggling and broken household in a poor neighbourhood. his mother worked long hours as a waitress at a local diner, barely making enough money to support herself, nevermind a family. his father, on the other hand... jeremy was never quite sure what his father did, but what he did know was that he'd always come home late. and drunk. that was when the shouting would begin; visceral displays of anger and loathing, violent outbursts at those who could not defend themselves. jeremy spent most of his younger years hiding in the shadows. after all, out of sight - out of mind. despite all this, they tried to play the part of a happy family, attending church every sunday, sitting round the table for home-cooked meals. their fabricated life continued on its miserable march onwards until...the diagnosis didn't mean much to him as a young boy of only 10, he only knew that it meant his mother was ill. cancer; breast cancer more specifically, already stage 3 and rapidly spreading. delilah had put off visiting the doctors for as long as her health would allow, hoping it'd improve with time and fearing the costs, and now, it would surely result in her demise. treatment was out of the question: the disease was far too aggressive, she was far too sick, and they were far too poor. still, that failed to stop his father's incessant drinking. the outbursts only grew worse in fact, and jeremy, still only a young boy, was powerless to stop them. that was until one fateful night. the tornado dubbed 'patrick' didn't tear through the house as it did clockwork every night before.. nor did it the day after. unbeknownst to the other two, he had fled the state, fearing the burden of caring for his 'family'. jeremy never saw him again after that day.before long, his mother was far too ill to work. without any source of income, they'd perish, so jeremy then took it upon himself to provide for the two of them, picking up little jobs where he could. most of his time, when not at school or caring for his mother, was spent on busy street corners closer to the city centre busking. playing the little guitar he had found outback of a music store had been a massive source of entertainment and escapism for him, and while he could only play tunes by ear, jeremy had developed quite the knack for it. still, it wasn't enough. on occasions more frequent than he'd like to admit, he was forced to either steal or dumpster-dive to get the essentials. the boy had often skipped school in order help bring in enough money, and his education suffered severely for it. they made it work however, and for a while, despite the hardships and circumstances, delilah and jeremy were as happy as they could be - but all good things must come to an end.one evening, after jeremy had just got in from middle school, he bundled into his mother's room only to find her frail and almost lifeless. her time had come. she spent the rest of the night singing quiet hymns to him, filling the boy with tales of courage and strength, and bestowed a final parting gift upon him... the one precious thing she owned: her gold cross necklace. her faith had meant more to her than all the money in the world, and now it would serve as a reminder to jeremy to treasure those he loved, and keep on the path ahead. as the boy drifted to sleep in delilah's arms that night, she, too, drifted away.the wrathafter the passing of his mother, jeremy grew bitter and angry, much like his father in a sense. with no other family members present to take him in, as his mother had been disowned due to her pregnancy outside of wedlock, the boy was left to survive on his own. (TBC)the reckoningafter he barely managed to graduate from high school, jeremy found himself in need of a job - a real job. luckily for him, an opening seemed to fall out of the sky: a temporary security summer job at the "new and improved freddy fazbear's pizzeria" - something to get him started. he was more surprised that the company was still in business after all the... incidents. still, it seemed easy enough, despite the poor pay and awful hours of work. what surprised jeremy more was that he was practically hired on the spot, even with his lack of qualifications or experience in the field. that should have been a telling factor about just what he was signing himself up for.first night on the job. the place was... huge. jeremy had no clue where they had found the money for such a kitted-out place, and the robots.. facial-recognition software? criminal databases? he wondered why they needed a night guard at all, it sounded like the animatronics had it all covered. hell, they might even protect him more than he protected them! the idea tickled him. until they started moving; that was not listed in the job description. at least they left a little audio tape for him to grasp the ropes, though the guy on the other end didn't sound too sure of things either.
